I already knew that Chewie was really protective of me but I guess that I didn’t realize how much until I started walking him 4 times a day. Especially when it’s dark.
The first day he growled or sometimes even barked to everyone we came arcross, except for little kids, but currently he seems to be able to comprehend the situation better. He’ll simply walk up to people to sniff them. At some he’ll growl and others he’ll either greet or ignore.
I greet everyone I come across but I do feel a bit wary of those he’ll growl against since I’m sure that his instincts are a lot better then mine. It is very comforting, especially when I take him to the forest.
It has taken him a while to get used to certain situations too. Bicycles, runners and scooters for example seemed like something that might be fun to bark at and chase but I took that notion out of his head real quickly.
Fireworks is something that literally makes him jump but he’s already getting used to it since so many kids already have some, which I honestly don’t mind in this case. A least New Years wont be a problem then.
He has picked up a habit of wanting to greet every dog we come across, which is only a problem if it’s one of those who I think should be wearing a muzzle.
I’m just so glad that he isn’t aggressive and will simply walk away from those. It does annoy me when their owner thinks that I should keep Chewie on a leash because their dog is aggressive…
If Chewie would ever show any sign of aggression, then I’d make him wear a muzzle. That’s what those things are made for.
Inside he’s doing great too. He barks when there is somebody at the door but ignores those who walk by. I don’t know how that’s going to be in our new apartment since people walk straight by your door but I’m sure that I’ll find out within a couple of weeks.
On a side note…
What kind of breeds do you think are mixed in?

So far I’m pretty sure that he’s a combination of a Chow Chow because of his curved tail and black spot on hit tongue, has some Labrador, Rottweiler and Pitbull in him when you look at his built and maybe something of a Sheep Dog becaus of his black spots.
The apartment is going well too. Only my bedroom needs to be wallpapered, the doors need another coat of paint and the floor need to be fixed on a few places but that should all by ready before Thursday. Which is when the carpet will be layed.
I can’t wait for the carpet to be finished because then we can really look into funiture and decorations. It will make it a lot more “homey” too of course.
Now if only it would get warmer outside. This morning it was -5C (23F) and my body hates the cold. Me too by the way.
