Thursday, December 24th, 2009

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

merry christmas 2009 Merry Christmas!

We’ve been held up a bit with the apartment due to the snow we’ve had lately but at least it feels Christmasy as you can see in the following photo’s.
We’re still hoping to move in in the first week of January and have a house-warming-party in January too. ;)

Chewie the Protector

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I already knew that Chewie was really protective of me but I guess that I didn’t realize how much until I started walking him 4 times a day. Especially when it’s dark.

The first day he growled or sometimes even barked to everyone we came arcross, except for little kids, but currently he seems to be able to comprehend the situation better. He’ll simply walk up to people to sniff them. At some he’ll growl and others he’ll either greet or ignore.
I greet everyone I come across but I do feel a bit wary of those he’ll growl against since I’m sure that his instincts are a lot better then mine. It is very comforting, especially when I take him to the forest.

It has taken him a while to get used to certain situations too. Bicycles, runners and scooters for example seemed like something that might be fun to bark at and chase but I took that notion out of his head real quickly.
Fireworks is something that literally makes him jump but he’s already getting used to it since so many kids already have some, which I honestly don’t mind in this case. A least New Years wont be a problem then.

He has picked up a habit of wanting to greet every dog we come across, which is only a problem if it’s one of those who I think should be wearing a muzzle.
I’m just so glad that he isn’t aggressive and will simply walk away from those. It does annoy me when their owner thinks that I should keep Chewie on a leash because their dog is aggressive…
If Chewie would ever show any sign of aggression, then I’d make him wear a muzzle. That’s what those things are made for.

Inside he’s doing great too. He barks when there is somebody at the door but ignores those who walk by. I don’t know how that’s going to be in our new apartment since people walk straight by your door but I’m sure that I’ll find out within a couple of weeks.

On a side note…
What kind of breeds do you think are mixed in?

So far I’m pretty sure that he’s a combination of a Chow Chow because of his curved tail and black spot on hit tongue, has some Labrador, Rottweiler and Pitbull in him when you look at his built and maybe something of a Sheep Dog becaus of his black spots.

The apartment is going well too. Only my bedroom needs to be wallpapered, the doors need another coat of paint and the floor need to be fixed on a few places but that should all by ready before Thursday. Which is when the carpet will be layed.
I can’t wait for the carpet to be finished because then we can really look into funiture and decorations. It will make it a lot more “homey” too of course. ;)

Now if only it would get warmer outside. This morning it was -5C (23F) and my body hates the cold. Me too by the way. :P

Preparing apartments is really bad for ya…

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Raymond and my parents have been working on the apartment for a few hours a day since last Sunday and so far I’ve only been able to help twice for a few hours and it’s really wearing everybody down.

I don’t know about the others but just taking off wallpaper last Sunday and painting for a few hours yesterday has really messed up my right wrist. My back is killing me too but I’m pretty used to that by now. What really annoys me about my wrist is that I can’t do precision work and since I’m working on a Zabrak commission, it needs a lot of precision work to get the face tattoo right and that has taken me a lot longer then I’ve liked. It still needs some work but I expect it to be ready within a week.
I got email yesterday about another Zabrak commission request so it’s really bad timing. I have told her that I should be able to work on the character itself but that the tattoo will have to wait.
I honestly hate making tattoo’s anyway since it’s such a pain to make them really sharp. I wonder whether I can find someone who can help me with that…

Preparing the apartment is going slowly but steadily and I’m so glad that my parents are so helpfull and have experience since Ray and I don’t. ;)
More help is always appreciated by the way. :P

Ray has made a blueprint of it which you can find here. The living room was going to be split up to give me a bigger bedroom but I think it’s to much of a pain so I’m just going to take the small bedroom. I only get enough money now monthly to pay the food so I insisted that he gets the big bedroom. He’s going to put in some extra closets which I can use too anyway.

It’s really convenient that he made the blueprint and the company which is going to lay the carpet was really happy with it.
It’s also been really usefull when it comes to picking out wallpaper and even decorating it. He has also gotten a nice program which we’ve used to decide the layout of all the rooms.
Computers are sooo convenient. :D

I joined another website that promises to help you earn money just by using it as startpage and use it’s convenient links to your social networks and even Google search. It’s called Peoplestring andthis is the link. I’ll keep you updated on how well it works.

Besides that not a lot has been going on and if I’m not picking out stuff for the apartment, am looking for a job or walking Chewie, I watch shows and movies on my computer to rest my back and wrists.
