Lasagna
Lasagna is one of my favorite meals and it’s so simple to make that I just had to share it.
My recipe is partly based on the one I found on the back of the lasagna blades package but I’ve customized it almost totally and you can easily do the same.
Some people like to add bell peppers to it for example or use chicken instead of ground beef.
Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 9 lasagna blades
- 1.5 lb of (lean) meat ( I prefer ground beef)
- 1 large onion
- ~2 cups of (grated) (low-fat) cheese
Sauce :
- 50 oz of sauce
- 4 cloves of garlic or add to taste
- 1 tsp of Italian spices
- 0.5 tsp of pepper
Equipment
- a large skillet
- a 5 qt stockpot or similar pan
- a 1.5-2 qt large saucepan
- a 9×13 glass oven dish
- 2 oven mittens
- a small knife
- a garlic press
- a pair of tongs
- a large spoon
- a cheese grater (if needed)
Preparation : Step 1
Preparation time : ~ 30 minutes.
1) Preheat the oven to 350F
2) Fill the stockpot with water and boil it.
3) Once the water is boiling, add the lasagna blades and let it boil for about 10 minutes (check the instructions on the package to see if yours have the same time).
4) Chop-up the onion.
5) Cook the meat and the onion in the skillet until fully cooked.
6) Combine the tomato sauce, pressed garlic, Italian spices and pepper in the saucepan and heat up.

Preparation : Step 2
Preparation time : ~60 minutes.
1) Spray the inside of the oven dish with cooking spray.
2) Add a thin layer of tomato sauce.
3) Lay 3 lasagna blades on the bottom of the dish.

4) Add half the meat and spread it out on top of the lasagna blades.
5) Add a thin layer of grated cheese.

6) Add a thin layer of the sauce.

7) Lay 3 lasagna blades on top of this and repeat 4-6
8.) Cover with the last 3 lasagna blades.
9) Cover with the remaining sauce.

10) Cover the entire dish with aluminium foil.

11) Put it in the oven for 30 minutes.
12) Carefully remove the foil (be careful since this will be very hot).
13) Add a thin layer of cheese.

14) Put it back into the oven for 10 minutes.
15) Let it cool down for 10 minutes.
Enjoy your meal!

Optional :
16) Prepare your lasagna the night before or in the morning and let it stand in the fridge for at least 6 hours. This makes it a lot more flavorful and thickens the sauce so it will “stick” together a lot better.
17) Reheat it in the oven at 350F for 20-30 minutes or in the microwave for a few minutes when you’re ready to eat.
